“I wrote the lyrics with the mindset of portraying a classic ‘casting couch’ story,” says singer Emily Rath. “The small town pretty girl has big dreams and moves to the big city to pursue stardom, but in good old Hollywood fashion, nothing comes without a price. It’s a sadly predictable and cautionary tale for every naive hopeful girl who doesn’t realize that getting to where you want to go in the world of entertainment often involves predatory men in power who always want something in exchange. I’m no stranger to this story in my own life, which is why I feel like it needs to be talked about more. It’s a dark reality disguised in an upbeat, fun, country-esque tune.”
